Chapel Rock
In 1840 an expedition, charged with exploring Lake Superior for the new state of Michigan, camped on Chapel Beach. Quoting the description of the rock from the journal of one of the members of the expedition "There is some earth on the roof (of the chapel) and out of the center grows a large straight pine for a spire". Don't know if this is the same pine, but could be. 170+ years old?
