What a night we had at the concrete wall at the mouth if Balsam Lake. First a thunderstorm woke us up in the wee hours of the morning then the mosquitoes nearly bled us dry. Pete and Allen did not sleep a wink on their boat so by 5:30 in the morning, they cast off and crossed Balsam Lake to Rosedale Lock. Jerry slept through it all. We are newly retired and ready to cruise! Our 32 foot Cape Island trawler, North Star, will be our summer cruiser in Canada and our 44 foot Marine Trader, Hemingway, is our warm climate cruiser, presently in Florida. Our land home is a small cottage outside of Lewisporte, Newfoundland, Canada. We hope to join cruising regattas organized by the Lewisporte Yacht Club members as they explore the Bay of Exploits, some of the best northern cruising grounds.
