All That Remains of a Once Huge Estate

At one time Podelwitz was an enormous estate. It not only contained this huge home but also an extensive farm with two horse barns, a distillery, an orangerie, a nursery and extensive fields. After the War East Germany seized most of the land and made it part of a farming co-operative. Many buildings were neglected then razed. It is still in the process of being restored. Interestingly, the castle is now in private hands and their website advertises the fact that they are looking for workers and new ideas for restoring what's left to its one-time glory.
