Up at 2:45 a.m. for plane trip to Diyarbakir, at the far east part of Turkey. We did a short tour of Diyarbakir which included the City of Amid, in Mesopotamia. This is a city of 1M people and we are definitely in a different world than Western Turkey!!!! This is the FAR East! Whatever stereotypes we may have had, it is all here.
