Happy Valley Racecourse

Built in 1845 so the British could enjoy their horse racing, the city has since shot up around it. This was the only piece of land on the island flat enough for a track but it was a swamp. No problem - they just banned all the farmers from the surrounding villages from growing rice...... "Jolly good show, old boy!!".
