January 23rd 2014 World War 1 was a war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. It all started because a Serbia nationalist had assassinated Austria's emperor's nephew, who was heir to the throne. This gave Austria an excuse to attack Serbia. By the time Austria had declared war on Serbia in July 28, 1914 much of Europe had already been entangled in the dispute.
