Witnessing the birth of Beatlemania
Brings a smile to an old rocker that the Camel has rock & rolled on a pilgrimage to the humble homes of the Fab Four...the Cavern...the Casbah...recalled the birth of his musical education in Adelaide...the movement that led to youth emerging from "seen but not heard" and developing a voice in society. It is quite extraordinary that 4 lads from Liverpool had such an impact on society that went so much further than their music. In Sydney their crowds were only eclipsed by Shintaro...the Samurai. I loved your pics of the early homes of the Beatles and you entered some like visiting a shrine. It might seem trite to do so, but having sat in the loungeroom of Ali Farke Toure's home at Niafunke on the Niger River, there is such relevance and honour being able to do so. I'll post some more Beatles tracks on World Music Forum in honour of this blog...reckon your Songs about Travel thread is the place for them to be!
