The Nelson Monument

To commemorate Admiral Nelson. Everyday at 1pm a cannon is fired at Edinburgh Castle, and the ball at the top of the Nelson Monument drops. This is for sailors to set their ship's cronometers by - this happened everyday since the 1800s.

We spent the day today walking through Edinburgh and visiting as many nooks and crannies of the city as we could. Suffice to say, the city is absolutely gorgeous and we have added it to the list of places we wish we could live in.
