On March 16, 1190 some 150 jewish people sought protection in the Royal castle from a mob led by Richard Malebisse and others chose to die at each others hands rather than denounce their faith.

I did not get up as early as I was originally planning to but I did manage to wake up in time to have breakfast at the hostel. My first stop of the day was York Minster.
