Another view of Victor Emmanuel's Monument

You might think that the fountain would have been an inviting prospect on this hot day but it was so full of paper and other garbage that no one even thought about going in. Rome has its charms but I find it to be the dirtiest city in Europe. I only wish I had taken pictures of the graffitti that seems to be everywhere.

As if the regular Italian breakfast wasn't bad enough, our otherwise wonderful hotel didn't have a breakfast room that could accomodate our group. We had to walk two blocks to a tiny strip mall. The empty lots we passed were chock full of empty bottles, cardboard boxes, dog crap and waist high weeds.
