Beginning of Pudong

Pudong is the area of Shanghai just across the Huangpu river from the Bund. We are told that less than 20 years ago where these buildings now stand were rice fields. At the base of the TV tower in the picture is the shopping mall we visited twice.

What started out as an overnight stop in Shanghai to position us for our trip to Guilin turned into a two night/one and a half day sightseeing trip.
