Palácio Rio Negro

Built in 1913 it was the home of the German rubber baron, Waldemar Scholtz. Today it is a cultural center.

Arriving in Manaus from Brasilia is a shock. In contrast with the quiet capital, Manaus is very busy and has a mix of old colonial, new skyscrapers and derelict buildings.
