Seeing the Netherlands by boat is a magnificent way to get an appreciation for the lifestyle here. Today we hired a boat and cruised all through the canals of Leiden, Oegstgeest, and Haarlem. The boat we had was called a sloop, and fit 6 of us in comfort while we puttered around. I was set to jet overseas Monday afternoon. With only 1 game of basketball on the Sunday before I left for 5 weeks overseas, how could anything possibly go wrong?! It was then that Murphy's Law (and gravity) kicked in to throw everything into chaos! 5 minutes into the second quarter of the basketball game, I rolled my ankle after landing on an opponents foot, and felt something snap.
