This wall separates the Protestant section of the city from the Catholics. It was thought that if they couldn't see each other there wouldn't be as much violence. It didn't quite work like that...

I woke up in the hostel on Monday super early, even without an alarm. By 7:00 I was up, showered, dressed, and going over my plan. The “breakfast” that the hostel advertised to be complimentary, actually consisted of 3 different kinds of cereal and a carton of whole milk in the fridge.
