Milford Sound est isolé au bout d'une route sinueuse entre les montagnes. On a l'impression que la route a été construite que pour les touristes car à Milford Sound il y a un aéroport pour des vols touristiques, un centre d'information et un terminal pour réserver des croisières en bateau.
