Leaving Matakohe behind us we set off on the west coast towards the kauri forests. On the way we stopped for lunch at the very scenic Kai Iwi lakes. There are three of them - Lake Kai Iwi, Lake Waikere and Lake Taharoa. We ate on the shores of Lake Taharoa.
