Ferry across the river, Pangani

We took this ferry across the estuary at Pangani to get to Ushongo, a few miles down the coast. Pangani was a major slave trading post with a dark history. It has some fine Arab inspired buildings falling into disrepair.

After our safari, we took a 9 hour bus ride to Tanga and then headed down the coast to Pangani and then onto Ushongo where we spent 3 days walking & cylcing along the deserted beaches - a really lovely place, go before it's like Benedorm. ... read more
