These gun emplacements are dotted about all along the cost. While there seem to be plenty of museums, plaques, statues and books recalling life during the German Occupation, I am yet to come across anything dedicated to the memory of the hundreds of Eastern European prisoners of war from the work camps on the island who died constructing these fortifications for the Germans.
