Alex and I and a friend - a different Linda - went for a lovely long walk yesterday on an old racecourse, which was built a while ago by french prisoners during the Napoleonic wars. That led us to the Offas Dyke path. King Offa was an English king about 1,000 years ago, who had a dyke (wall/rampart) built along the border with Wales to keep the Welsh out.
