This monolith marks the exact spot below the Nagasaki explosion. Nagasaki is probably the most unlucky city in the world. Kokura was the primary target on Aug 9, but thick cloud cover sent Bockscar over to Nagasaki as the secondary target.

I don't think a trip to Japan would be complete without a visit to either Hiroshima or Nagasaki. The horror inflicted on those 2 cities have unquestionably changed the world we live in.
