Stayed quite a long way outside of D.C. in a place called Cheverly. It's still on the metro system though so caught the train there and then got picked up in the hotel shuttle bus. Good metro system. Using a 'Smartcard' makes most journeys cost around 70 pence. Only really spent one day in downtown Washington.
