Block 11 at Auschwitz I

Block 11 was the prison block at the concentration camp, where the Gestapo Police Court was held. "Prisoners" could be convicted of anything, even for simply not working "hard enough". Sentences ranged from floggings to executions by firing squad. In the cellar of this block, prison cells were set up for prisoners sentenced to death by starvation. Those prison cells can be still be seen today.
Krakow and the Ghosts of Auschwitz

Our day started off with a city tour of Krakow. We went first to Kazimierz, the Jewish Quarter (and also the location where some scenes of 'Schindler's List' were filmed). There is a memorial in the center of the street commemorating the lives of the 65,000 Jews from Krakow who lost their lives during the Holocaust.
