Bird’s Nest Soup is made from an unusual type of bird’s nest. This type of nest is not made from sticks but from the saliva of a swiftlet, which lives in caves in Southeast Asia. Because these nests are so hard to harvest, a dish that contains even a small amount of the bird’s nest can be upwards of $100. While the taste is actually quite bland, the nest is thought to have many medicinal uses
