We got the overnight bus to Byron Bay from Newcastle. Byron has very nice beaches and loads of activities on offer. It has a slightly resort like feel but remains pleasant place to be. We stayed in a couple of YHA's here for almost a week. We spent most days surfing including a lesson on the first day.
