Happy reunion

Such a funny moment. While wandering around, Haruko suddenly gave a gasp. I looked up to see a yak come charging in our direction. Then we looked the other way and another was charging towards us as well. Then it all became clear, as it was obvious the first was a juvenile. It was a calf and mother relocating each other! Whew!

Surrounding Xiahe are vast areas of grassland used by local nomads as pastures for herds of yak, dzo (bull crossed with female yak), Tibetan cattle, sheep, goats and even pigs.
