Mark and I (just to recap, I decided to name my car Mark) started our drive down the coast to somewhere. I left the city at 2:30 and hoped to get as far as Oamaru before dark. But by 5:30 the light was fading fast and I was just coming to the outskirts of Timaru, a fair sized town, but with no hostels or reasons to stay.
