But this was a famous pianist who was basically in slavery to write and play so he finally escaped and lived most of his life in France. They still have concerts in this park area for the public. "It (monument dedicated to Frederic Chopin) was designed by Waclaw Szymanowski. Concerts, performed by famous pianists, playing the mucis of Chopin, are given here at noon, Sunday only, during the summer months."

I enjoyed my visit to Poland, but did not fall in love with it. I thought it woudl be more like Russia and there is no doubt a lot of Russian influence, but it seemed more European to me than Russian. The city is practically brand new, but still looks original.
