Log: Goodbye French Polynesia. The surf Gods delivered and the winds cooperated, so we stalled another 12 hours to create surfers exhausted from the glassy perfect waves and the snorkelers thrilled with the abundant marine life... of every color of the rainbow. The guys could barely stay awake after their last session last night and have been comparing various rashes since. From locals asking us to play soccer, teenagers walking along the street with boom boxes playing Tahitian music... to Brett sinking in what is the closest we have ever encountered to quick sand trying to get to shore... he wallowed and hollered and almost lost his shoes... but we retrieved him and some fresh baguettes for the sail to Cooks... we have enjoyed ourselves. We have made new friends, some of which sailed to the anchorage in a classic yacht to say goodbye and to play alongside us. We couldn't of had a better time in Moorea... except if it had been longer.

The winds circled us like a lazy dog this morning, then settled in a position perfect for our sail to the Cooks. We headed out of the bay to the shouts of local surfers on the break waving and cheering us a goodbye. As we exited I hear Brett "What was THAT!?" It looked like a shiny black buoy at first, then realized it is a melon head whale spy-hopping and staring at us. The ocean would swell up and the shiny black whales were surfing by us. A nice beginning. We are now fishing and sailing... enjoying the breeze and hoping it stays longer than it is predicted to. For now, we are just enjoying it...
