Somewhere over the Pacific Ocean -December 5th / 6th 2008 3:15am
Not sure where I am but we or still moving. I guess that’s all the sleep I’m going to get thanks to the little kid screaming at the top of her lugs on the other side of the plane…how I love kids…
I decided to start a movie to drown out the kids screaming so I put Tropic Thunder on. I couldn’t even get 30mins into it before I had to turn it off because it was so bad. I next decided to try Wanted with Angelina Jolie. I’ll let you know how this one works out.
6:00am
Well we have 2 hours left of the flight and I’ve had just about enough. Wanted was good but my legs are starting to cramp up. Breakfast was served and was good (Raisin Bran cereal with an apple muffin.) Did you know they give you hot towels during the flight?
3:12pm
Linda and Dave met me at the airport, I think I just have hunched with people. I spotted Cara and Rob out before I saw the sign and I did the same with Linda and Dave today. It’s weird. But it
was greatly appreciated to have someone pick you up rather than searching for a taxi. They took me right to the floating house…I mean to Lee!
The weather today isn’t very nice, 32 degrees with a few clouds. Those damn clouds mess everything up!
I spotted him right away, took him a while to search to area but we finally met. He finished up and we went and got some food with Dave and Linda. We just went to a little café on George street to have a cappuccino and breaky. We bit farewell to them after they dropped us off at our hotel. Because I am a guest I have to sign on with all the other guests tomorrow (Dec 7th).
We got settled in just in time for Lee to run back to do Afternoon dispatch. I relaxed a bit and had a much needed shower then joined him on the pier. I met some fellow team members. Luc (Lee’s manager), Franchesa (co-worker), Annie (Luc’s girlfriend, she works in the spa), Jeff (Australian tour guide), I saw a glimpse of the famous Flavio and Sheldon who are doing what they can to get me on as well as allow Lee to live with me in my cabin. Crew isn’t usually allowed in guest cabins but they do have acceptions. I finally got to see Ezz again (my great friend from Australia, I worked with her in the spa during my contract, she’s the fitness director) and her fiancée Zapher. We made some plans for this evening as she has the night off. She unfortunately signs off tomorrow so I won’t see her for the time I’m here but that’s alright, she deserves the time off. Lee and I headed back to the hotel to rest for an hour or so before we meet up with Erin for dinner. The jet lag thing kills ya.
3:00am
Lee and I met up with Erin to grab a bite to eat. We went to a little pub down the street, had a BLT with chips and a Toohey’s beer! As we were having dinner Erin was telling us a story and all of a sudden Lee pips up…”Sorry Erin, but what’s with the people across the street dressed up in duck costumes?” Her response was…that’s what happens on Saturday night, sure enough we saw a few more people dressed up in costumes. Apparently Sydney is the place to go out on weekends. Erin had to go back to the ship for a meeting so Lee and I ran off to see the new James Bond movie. He hadn’t seen it so I figured I’d go watch it again with him. He wasn’t too impressed with it. We then went back to the room to wait for Erin and Zapher to get off work. I ended up falling asleep and getting a phone call at 12:30 to go out to the casino with them. I figured I’m only here once and I don’t get to see Erin much so why not. After taking the scenic route around we managed to find it. Lee and Zapher played a few hands of blackjack but came up short handed. We were all very tired so ended up calling it a night. So…Good Night!
