Bula from Walu Beach Fiji!!!

Greetings from the south pacific - apologies for the delay in messages we've been all out of smoke signals for a while. Made the short hop from Auckland to Nadi and moved into a new time zone- fiji time zone. Following some delays and just some basic "fiji time" we have made it to our island resort which on first impressions was proper nice. Unfortunately it was always going to happen and we are experiencing our first bit of dodgy booking - website of the place looks great - www.walubeach.com - but it's no more than an upmarket backpackers joint which we would'nt have an issue with except when you start to realise what we have payed for our beach bungalow. Lets just say the backpackers are getting a great deal for a fraction of what other guests have wedged out - food is pretty poor (makes skiing chalet meals seem gourmet) - facilities poor - bills being assigned to any old room etc, etc. However, positives are the view from our wee hut and the weather is great. The beach is gorgeous lined with swaying palm trees with coral reefs for good snorkelling. This place was actually used for some Aussie tv programme www.theresort.tv but looks as thought it's a bit neglected since then in places. The island opposite is apparently where the rich and famous go - $4000/night !!!! wish we were there.
We feel slightly dissappointed with the place but we shouldn't moan really - we're just spending our days sleeping, chilling, reading, swimming etc - it seems rather strange to just do nothing all day - we thought we would really love it but I guess it's just not us !

Anyway - 2 weeks and we'll be home ! can't believe it.

Middlesbrough get beat!
Hello Carl! Thought it was about time i posted a message after following your exploits for so long! Well you seem to be having a great time but the photo's seem to add a few pounds in weight! Not sure if you get to see any football over there but I thought I'd let you know your adopted town of Middlesbrough got beat 4-0 by Seville in the Uefa cup final last night! I'm sure you'll be devestated! The people of 'Boro' were and decided to smash the town up! Nothings changed! Well enjoy the rest of your hols and I might see you in October! Emoid x
