i can't explain it, dan... one just has to try it.
australian for tough -- this conversation took place on my first morning working in the garden between meg and her female neighbor...
neighbor - "i saw a brownie this morning on my porch, meg."
meg - "did you throw rocks at it to let it know it wasn't welcome?"
n - "nah, they're not that poisonous"
m - "no, they are. my husband almost died when he was bit. he was hospitalized and had to get anti-venom."
n - "that's what i mean... they're not THAT poisonous."
so if there's anti-venom... a snake is not THAT poisonous. i'm hearing this as i'm about to weed the garden, the last known whereabouts of a serpent, who's name is on a 'world's most deadliest' list, was last seen. for chrissake... i didn't sign up for this! really? needless to say, i survived... so far.

meg, my host on the farmstay, had a way of describing the town. "the loggers first came here and took all the trees. then the dairy farmers moved in and ruined the land. then the hippies moved in and we planted trees."

what started out as an alter of sorts for a sculpture evolved into a 16 year project ever growing and transforming still... this is about a quarter of the size of this hand carved out cave on the side of a cliff... bats have claimed a small part of it to call home... marvin doesn't mind.
