me and sarah
out and about in brisie :) oooh, another day, another new place!
was totally ready to leave noosa, in need of city life by this point! after 6 weeks of beaches it actually all gets a little tedious to be honest! (no, i'm not taking the mick...!!)
said my goodbyes to sharna, very emotional 😞 when me, jenny and sarah got to the transit centre there had been an accident (eep, third one!!) which wasn't good, a man had fallen and there was blood everywhere :s still, the ambulance came and i think he was ok in the end. enough of the morbid stuff!
we were waiting for the greyhound bus for an hour before someone thought to ring up and ask what was going on. not even funny - it was running 3 hours late!!! and of course they didn't think to ring any of the contact numbers that they had to let us know... but all was not lost, after another half an hour (ish) a bus from a different company turned up and let everyone on, yay!!!!! eventually got to brisbane (otherwise known as brisie or brisvegas 😊) at about 4pm after leaving the hostel at 9.50am!!! bloody long day!
totally
fell in love with brisbane the moment i got off the bus - you know when you just totally get a feeling for a place? it was kind of like that. i was staying in a room with just jenny and sarah which was really nice after being in dorms for so long! bit of a change 😊
once we were settle we went out for a bit of a wander and were pleasantly surprised to find that even though it was 5pm on a sunday everything was still open. including (yay!) starbucks!!! (which, for the record was a 38 second walk from where we were staying, hehe. yes. i am sad. and obsessed. deal with it 😊)
it was soooo nice to see department stores and civilisation again!! lol. oooh, bumped into kieran and darren (fraser island irish dudes) whilst we were waiting at the traffic lights! freaky 😊
so yeah, over the next few days i spent quite a lot of time in starbucks, hehe 😊 (i'm sure that this will not surprise many of you...) by the time i left they knew my name and what i was going to order before i even opened
my mouth, hehe!! quite impressive considering that i was only there for 5 days *blush* awww, and totally fell in love with the (unfortunately gay) totally gorgeous barista who served me every morning... ah, and i bought myself a starbucks "queensland" mug and starbucks mocha powder which i have never ever seen before in my life, tres exciting!!!!!!
after saying goodbye to sharna back in noosa, we actually met up again in brisie, lol. can't get rid of the girl 😊 ended up spending most of my 5 days with her as jenny and sarah left on the tuesday morning.
monday night, me, sharna, jenny and sarah went for a few drinks which was a good laugh - so so funny, we were all sitting at a table near the blokes toilets and one bloke walked past us and was staring and didn't actually notice the wall until he'd walked smack bang into it 😊 hehe!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good night in all 😊
on tuesday went shopping in brisbane and bought new clothes 😊 brisbane is a really small city, which is cool, as all the shopping is along one main mall (queen street mall) which makes shopping so
so much easier, hehe! there are quite a few little green grass park type areas just dotted around the city centre too, which is nice 😊 just a really chilled out, easy to access kinda place i thought.
me and sharna met up again and ate lunch sitting outside brisbane town hall/museum watching randy pigeons chasing each other. just what you want when you're trying to eat, obviously 😊 went to the cinema to see the wallace and gromit film - i can't tell you how strange it is to go to the cinema when you haven't been for over 2 months!!!!!!!! (bloody funny film too, i totally recommend it).
it was dead weird having the room to myself that evening - haven't slept in a room on my own since i left luton!!!! how wimpy am i - i was actually a little freaked out by it!!! lol.
on wednesday morning i was having a nice quiet grande dry light soy cappuccuino (my current drink of choice, just so ya know 😉) in starbucks reading the bible (please note, this is actually the lonely planet guide 😊) when i got caught by sharna, lol. it was
like she knew i would be there or something... how predictable am i?!!! we got chatting and ended up staying there until lunchtime! oops! when we eventually decided we'd best move on we went to the museum of brisbane, went up the clock tower and then went for lunch. after that we parted ways - sharna was attempting to find work and a house share in brisbane and stay there for a month or so.
i spent the afternoon wandering around the botanic gardens which was so lovely! saw lizards and pigeons and other random weird looking birds. it was kind of nice to have somewhere that quite and tranquil and nature filled, so to speak, in the middle of a city. got really lost trying to get back to the hostel but found a cute little art/sculpture gallery in the process, so twas not all that bad 😊
me and sharna got all prettied up and went out for a few cocktails and a meal to say bye bye (for real this time 😊) as i was leaving the next morning. grr, one thing about australia that sucks is that you cannot find an indian restaurant for
tis MY starbucks
see, it says my name and everything! love nor money!!! we looked for about half an hour and in the end had to give up!!! (looking forward to a good curry when i get back i can tell you!!) still, we had a really lovely evening, went for a bit of a walk afterwards. brisbane was really really pretty at night time, all lit up and stuff, especially with all the bridges and the river.
so yeah, after everyone slagging it off, i must say that i really really enjoyed my time in brisbane! pleasantly surprised, and the weather was fab too, yay!!!!
