river rafting

i did rafting once in Argentina but it was nothing in comparision to rafting in Rotorua. This time it was river with thrilling rapids class 4 and 5 (large waves, possibility of large rocks and hazards, possibility of a large drop, requires precise maneuvering). Class 6 rapids are considered to be too dangerous for inexperienced rafters.

Sarah and I had randomly met an owner of some mussel farms in the region who kindly took us on a boat cruise around the bay. Fantastic trip! Plus we got food for 3 days - a bag of green mussles, a heap of snapper fillets and a crayfish! Thank you Peter!!!

Hot Water BeachHot Water Beach
Hot Water Beach

Its name comes from underground hot springs which filter up through the sand. Within two hours either side of low tide it is possible to dig a pit into the sand and have it filled with hot water from the spring. I burnt myself - this hot the water is! you can control the temperature by mixing it with sea water. Here Sarah and our Magic Bus driver digging a hole.
