This morning we were boarding the bus at 7.30am hoping to get to Lake Matheson to see the mirror reflection of Mount Cook.

Unfortunately due to mother nature gracing us with mist and fog this was close to impossible; still beautiful though.

We drove through the township of Haast- the start of the mountains-the end of the coastline.

Across the bridge at the Gates of Haast and up into the Mount Aspiring National Park.

We drive through Makarora which has a population of 60. An hour later we arrive in Wanaka.

On arrival to our hotel we dropped our bags and headed out for a spot of sight seeing-making the most of our over night stay.

We head to the lake and take some photos, we walked through the town and stopped to eat at a restaurant on the river.

Back to the hotel to chill, we make the most of the DVDs kindly put on at reception.

A fairly early night makes the most of the comfortable bed and pillows.
