Stop off on route to Wanaka
Hello Everyone, after leaving Franz Joesf we headed to Wanaka which was a fairly long drive down the west coast. We stopped off at a place called Roaring Billy Falls which was a waterfall which went into a river. When we got there our driver LJ drove the Kiwi bus right down next to the river which was sourounded by lots and lots of stones. LJ said that someone must have turned the tap off for the Roaring Billy Falls as it was more like Trickling Billy Falls, because there hadnt been much rain lately. We stayed here for about an hour and had our lunch by the river as we tried to skim the stones across the river which was awesome fun!! I manged 8 skims! After this we got back on the bus and headed on to Wanaka.

When we arrived we checked in to our hostel (Hotel) which was really nice and got back on the bus to visit a place called Have-A-Shot. This was really cool as they had this game there called battlefield. This comprised of about 8 air pressurised cannons that you filled with rubber tennis balls in little wodden huts that you hid

in as you shot the tennis balls at whoever was running around. It was so much fun and there were about 6 of us playing including LJ who was the main focus of the cannons throughout the game, at one point he took a shot to the head which knocked him on the ground and broke the safety visor we all had to wear. It is such a good laugh and if you get the chance should definatly try. After this me and Jo had a go at archery and was pretty good but nowhere near as much fun as the battlefield.

When we arrived back in Wanaka i was so hot from running around the battlefield that I thaught it would be a good idea to jump in the lake and go for a swim, Jo egged me on by saying she would buy me three drinks that night if i did it. Up for the challenge I got changed and grabbed my towel and headed down to the lake. When I got there I thought to myself yeah no probs then i put my foot in the water to test it and it nearly snapped off it

was so cold. Then i saw two kids getting out of the lake, after seeing them i thaught if they can go swimming in it then I can and took a big running jump off of the jetty and into the lake it was so cold but after a while it did warm up and i swam out to a diving board thing in the lake, when i climbed up onto the diving board floating in the lake I started to feel the burn of the cold on my skin and decided to get back quick sharpe so jumped in again and headed back to a laughing Jo on the side of the lake. With my first three drinks secured for that night we met some of the other people from the bus and went into the Bar across the road from the hotel. Some good food and drinks later we headed to bed to get ready for another crazy day on the Kiwi bus which was heading to Queenstown.
