After Queenstown we headed off to Milford Sound via Te Anau which is where most people travel to Milford S from. You could do a day trip from Queenstown but it would be a helluva drive as it's 2-3 hours from Te Anau. And it's probably the most dangerous drive we have done yet - absolutely incredible views as the road winds its way up into the mountains, right up into the snow and past various avalanche spots - there are places on the road where you are not allowed to stop as it is too dangerous there.

Anyway - back to Te Anau! We checked ourselves into the Top 10 and worked out who we were going to do a trip to Milford S with. We had planned to do a boat trip around the sound, but when we found out you could dive it...! Well - we were sold.

We had dinner at Redcliff which was to date the best meal we have had in NZ so far (neck and neck perhaps with 42 degrees south in Kaikoura). We have found the food here a bit hit and miss, generally not up to the standard of Oz food (sorry Kiwis!) and rather like you'd get at home - a really good meal is pretty hard to find. We both chose the venison having driven through fields and fields of it and it was scrummy 😊

Home for an early night then before our very early start for the diving trip - we were being picked up at 6.30 am. Very excited!
