The Cathedral & the Millenium sculpture
Hello! Well, weve had a busy week started off in Christchurch where we stayed a few days to decide on our route. Explored the city - its like a mini England! Theres a lovely cathedral which the town is centered around and really nice gardens along the Avon river and also a random giant chessboard in the square for geeks to pass their time! We left there on Thurs and drove to Mount Cook (a long journey of 5hrs!) - that did include a 20min run down the road for Chris as somehow the map flew out the window - dont ask how, there was a dead fly & an open window - easily done I think!! Everyone was puzzled cause the road is in the middle of nowhere then they see a random running down the road!!! The long drive was worth it when we arrived at the campsite tho - the view was amazin - snow covered mountains all around and pure fresh air - we slept well that night!! On the way we stopped at a couple of the bluest lakes u can imagine - it was so cool. One had a cute little church & a random

random, we know!
dog statue - we named him beadu!! After a walk up to Kea Point where we could see Mount Cook we were on the road again, this time heading towards Queenstown. This was just a stopover really as the next day we drove to Te Aneu for a night on the way to Milford Sound. Te Aneu itself was tiny but had a good pie & ice cream shop! However, we drove to the campsite which was the nicest place we have ever stayed at!! There was just us & a massive lake with crystal blue water - it was amazin just to sit there and hear nothing, it felt weird but so cool! Up early the next day we set off for Milford Sound where we did a boat trip thru the Fiords. The scenery is classic - like nothing we have ever seen - it just goes on for miles and miles. There were waterfalls coming over the cliffs from the glaciers above & we saw sealions on the rocks - awesome! The drive back to Queenstown was also just as pretty - the rivers are pure blue because of the sediments from the glaciers & they just

How very English!!
look so cool! Alot of the filming for the Lord of the Rings was done round here & u can see why - theres just nothin else like it! We also saw lots of diving ducks which we like very much - they are so cute!!

So, we are now back in Queenstown & today a jumped out of plane!!! It was AMAZIN - 12000ft with 45s of freefall at 200km/h! There's no way to put the experience into words - you need to do it!! Chris went first (as usual!) & I just saw him disappear with a fading "WOOHOO!!" I followed & my stomach felt like it had been left behind in the plane & I couldnt get any sounds to come out of my mouth - believe my I tried very hard to scream!! After what felt like no time at all our parachutes were opened and we cruised back down to earth - that in itself was ace - the view above all the mountains was awesome & its so quiet - a must-do experience! We both had camera guys filming us & taking pics so will be able to relive it when we get home (yep, we got the whole package so wont be eatin for the next week but it was deffo worth it!)

Off on the road again tomorrow - going back up the West Coast to the North of the South Island - on the way we are going to the glaciers & doing a glacier walk which should be cool! So, in all New Zealand has started off great - an amazin country! Will keep updating when we get chance - alot of the towns over here are very basic - some dont even have ATMs never mind computers!! However, there is alot of sheep...

Love u all & miss u as always! Thanks for your messages (including emails - I have been gettin them, just keep forgetting to let u know!!) xxx

See you soon
Hi you two. With a little help from son Gary I have unravelled the mystery of finding and reading your blog. Pleased you are having a great time and look forward to seeing you in Wellington next week. A couple of corrections so all the 'foreigners' reading this get it right. The lake is Te Anau (not Te Aneu), and I believe the falls you photographed in Milford Sound are the Bowen Falls, Not Gordon !!! As a patriotic Kiwi reckon you gotta get it right !!!. With love. David
