After my time in Raglan I realized that it was time for me to settle down... I was nearly 24 years old and I no longer had that spring in my step found in the youngsters of today. So like many close to retirement I headed south, and after several days I found myself back in Queenstown ready for the next adventure. Now my reasons for heading south were not purely for retirement reasons but were also to complete one of my goals in life. This goal was to work on a ski hill for an entire ski season and ski my brains out. And from what I have heard about Queenstown this was the perfect location to complete this mission. But first I had to find a house in live in.

After nearly 3 weeks of phone tag with potential flat mates and endless open houses, I eventually discovered the perfect location to live out my dream of becoming a ski bum. Located only a few minutes from downtown Queenstown this little jewel of a house reminded me of the glorious days of University, where many houses were little more then a place to
party at. Yet unlike many houses in Student Ghettos, the view from the balcony alone made you fall in love with the place. The house itself is run by two crazy guys from Auckland, who like nothing more then waking up to a good story after an insane night out on the town, which as many of you know, is right up my alley.

Though I had just met my roommates only days before, these guys promised to show me a kick ass birthday weekend in Queenstown, and true to form they did. Starting on the Saturday night we began with a little bowling, which only displayed my complete lack of talent when it comes to this game. So I desperately tried to persuade them that getting a gutter ball was equivalent to a strike, but sadly this did not work. After this we hit the one of the greatest pizza parlours in the world, which also had one of the largest beer towers I had ever seen (a beer tower is a large tube, complete with spout that is filled with beer, placed on your table so that you dont have to get
up to get more beer, which I must say is very tough.) After a few beer towers and some pizza we decided we had earned a respite at a locale speakeasy (i.e drink our faces off at some bar). Suddenly it was morning. Don't ask me what happened the night before as we are still trying to piece it together. But what made this hangover less painful was that Liam and I had a golf game to get to, which was awesome as it was my first game since last August. The weather today was perfect, feeling less like the middle of autumn and more like the middle the summer, as I stripped down to a tshirt. Despite our hangovers Liam and I had devised our own form of handycap in the game, where losers of a hole had to chug a beer, making it all the more difficult to beat your winning apponnent. It was not till the end of the game that I realized that this system had worked largly against me, and by the end of the 9th hole I had reached a score of 76...which for those of you who dont golf, is just shy of
terrible. After I had been thoroughly emberrassed, Liam and I took out his truck and did some off road driving through some of the insane routes found throughout the area. Now I had never really done anything like this, but man was it fun, as we found ourselves driving through streams several feet deep and through paths high on moutains tops that were no wider then our car...but somehow the truck managed to survive... much to our relief.
May 3rd to the 7th
Ben's sister (ben is my other flatmate) decided to visit for the weekend and show us a liquid she dubbed beer. To honour our new found discovery, I made us a funnel to aid us in our journey. This had its expected result and we spent the next 5 days discovering the secrets of booze. This also turned out to be one of the most expensive booze ups of my life as we each tried to drink the other under the table, which turned out to be impossible, and only our lack of money stopped any of us from giving in.
I really dont think anything will explain these last few weeks as well
as just showing you some pics, so here they are.
P.S I have an interview at one of the ski hills in a few days... so wish me luck!
Well thats it from me....
Catch ya on the flip side
