Another early start to catch a big ferry tour of Milford Sound, which should be called Milford Fiord as it was carved out by a glacier. The mountains surrounding it are steeper than I thought they would be. We saw lots of waterfalls and some yellow eyed penguins. The captain was really friendly and let people steer the boat.
Then we did the 600km drive to Dunedin, we were going to stay the night somewhere on the way but decided that there was no where we really wanted to stop and we may as well get all the way there. We arrived by 6.30 to a lovely backpackers- Dunedin Central Backpackers. It is really homely with sofas and bean bags and place mats and free phone, not forgetting Richard who runs the place. Anyway it was so nice we ended up staying 2 nights.

The weather
I dont believe you really went there. Those photos are from a picture book. It is cloudy / rainy for over 300 days per year at Milford Sound so it couldn't have been such good weather for you ! Are you doing a Donald Crowhurst ? (He pretended to sail single handed round the world and sent back false reports - I think there is a film out about him soon)
