The trail toLake Marian
After all the wedding festivities were over we drove to Te Anau which is near the southern tip of the south island. We went to Milford Sound which is in the heart of Fiordland. Milford was incredible. It has to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet. We took a cruise on Milford Sound. The pictures can't possibly do it justice. It is at the tip of the Southern Alps and has huge cliffs, snow-packed mountains, amazing views. We saw seals and dolphins along the way. By the way, it's probably the most southern latitude that we will ever get to - we were further than 45 degrees south!

After the cruise we went for a 4 hour hike to Lake Marion which is near Milford. Incredible! The only way to describe it is a combination of hiking in Colorado and Hawaii on steroids. It's a rain forest that rises right into the tip of the Southern Alps.
