On the way to the Chasm..
..beautiful little falls, looked like faeries would live here! How you goin?!
The afternoon that we got to the glazier, Rob was pretty tired as he had driven quite alot in the past couple of days, so we checked into a camp and had a few drinks, as Simon had bought some beer and wine. The next day we had a slow morning, as Rob had a bit of a thick head, so i got all the jobs done, until we were ready to leave to see the glazier!
We drove just 5 mins to the carpark where you start the walk. It took us about 30 mins to hike over the stones and rubble, to get as close as you can to the glazier without being in danger. It was HUGE, it was like a slow moving lava flow. In fact it was moving 27 feet a week as it was constantly getting pushed down by the snow. It is 1/35 the size it was 250 years ago and is the only one in the world that has formed between 2 temperate forests!! If you look closely at the glazier you can see some of the rubble that the glazier is pushing down like a bulldozer, just
at the chasm..
..the deadly falls, the water was unbelievalbly powerful falling loose as it is moving! It was excellent to see and definately worth nearly breaking your ankles for! (Sorry dad - you probably dont agree!!)
Until next time, party on dudes
