Strangely not the weirdest thing I saw in NZ but close.
Day 7: 13-2-10
First things first, visit the mysterious Petrified Forest. Second things second, realize it's not entirely what I thought it would be. The night before my dreams were haunted by an imaginative forest. Possible a scene straight out of Harry Potter and complete with wizards, elves and fairies and a concoction of my mind for what the mornings visit might reveal. Unfortunately it wasn't quite what I had imagined leading to a slight let down but interesting none the less. At low tide you can see fossils of ancient petrified logs embedded in the stone.

Driving up the Eastern coast is where we saw the magnificent shoe fence. We stopped only to take a few photos and were off again never knowing why or how the shoes got there.
