Mukie, Leo and I decided to head to the Canterbury museum here seeing as it is free. Turned out to be a cool museum! They have some displays on the Moa bird which was one of the biggest birds in the world but they are extinct now. There was also a lovely little kiwi couple from Bluff down on the far south tip of the south island that turned their living room into a display of puau shells and they have a cute little video about them and how they opened up their home to visitors to see the shells and other kiwiana.

Sadly, the couple both passed away in the early 2000’s. Their living room was donated to the museum and you actually get to walk through it. Pretty cool but a bit overwhelming!

There was a ton of cool things to see and do in the museum as you can see from the pictures. We found really cool touques in the gift shop and masks. We had more fun in the gift shop I think then anywhere.
