Think of a food festival, with different booths all around and a lot of people in the middle. You can picture TAAM HA'IR, if you must. Now take out all the advertisements and those big commercial stands. Add some nice music, not too loud and a lot of nice, relaxed New-Zealanders (aka Kiwis). And now imagine that most of those booths are selling wines in ridiculous prices. Now put this whole scene in the lovely district of Marlborough near the town of Blenheim, which turned out to be wine country (looks like Tuscany).
This was so great. We had Marlo, Riesling, Souvignon and all the rest and even not being such a wine fan, it was very nice. I ate venison and mussels, and we watched those Kiwis drink, get drunk and enjoy themselves. It was a lovely afternoon and we left slightly tipsy and very much pleased. Who said New-Zealand is good only for hikes?

Stairway to heaven
First you say you almost died climbing up, and after that you're getting (almost) free wine - sounds like stairway to heaven 2 me :-) Anyway, keep writing!
