After our dramatic time up in the north part of the north island we continued in our pursuit for some peace and quiet, this time it was in relation to New Years. Never have gotten the whole New Years vibe to be honest, it always seems so forced and over-priced, so we planned to have some beers with a nice view and a good laugh on our own. After leaving Rotorua, we headed back to Bay of Plenty as a stop off before heading onto Gisbourne. We stopped off in Whakatane to eat at 'NZ finest fish & chip' shop. We then rolled up at this rest area and took in this sumptuous sunset.

Saw this mad man handbrake turning his way around fields in Opotiki, East Bay of Plenty.

Thom devours the triple decker fiery beef,pickle,cheese and salad sandwich. Soon after he finds the secret ingredient, sour cream & chive chips. It doesn't get much better than this.

We've found that vast areas of the North Island is shaped like these round topped hills. Great for a day of hill rolling.
