Arrived in Wellington fine on the ferry - a 3 hour crossing.

Spent the afternoon touring the City in the truck, and then crashed at a motel for the evening so we could have some dinner and a couple of beers.

On the morning of the 28th we headed to the NZ state museum - Te Papa (Our Place)

Te Papa was a great 3 hour trip around NZ's history and Maori ancestry (and its free!). We experianced an earthquake, in a simulator house. There was also a guest exhibition about Egypt which was facinating and also held an actual Mummie with its sarcophagus.

After grabbing a quick lunch we started our journey north.

Just outside Carterton up the M2 (our first multi lane highway in NZ, with radio startions in abundance- fianlly!) we stopped at Stonehenge! No really... some beardy locals decided some years ago to build a stone circle like the one in the UK, in the middle of New Zealand- well why not! The breeze block contruction wasnt as great mark on the landscape, but at least we can say we saw it!

We continued north, resting our heads just outside Palmerston North in Ashurst.

We are finally passing through towns that are actually towns in size, not just little hamlets pretending to be towns!
