The team!The team!The team!

Just before we went caving
The next stop was a place called Waitomo which we were all looking forward to because of the ‘Black water rafting’ which we all heard loads of good reports about. It was a well early start for this one and it was absolutely freezing! We had to get suited up in loads of layers of damp clothes and then on top of that wore a wetsuit. We then drove to the cave entrance which was a hole in the ground with a load of rigging above it. We had to abseil one at a time down into the pitch darkness, which was about 40 metres and at some points really narrow. We then walked to a Zip line, and in total darkness (they made us turn all headlamps off) we rode the wire which was really freaky not being able to see where your going! After the zip line we were given rubber rings which we sat in and jumped into the icy cold waters that flow through the caves. We drifted through the caves and at one point turned our headlamps off to look at all the glowworms attached to the cave ceiling.
