Tongariro Crossing

When we reached lake taupo we walked into the tourist information center - and found that there was a very famous walk nearby - The Tongariro crossing.
We quickly decided to book ourselves on a bus to the start of the walk the next day - it's a 7 hour walk up and across several volcanic craters. We began at Whakapapa (the Wh is pronounced F - you can work it out for yourself... ) and took the bus at 6am to the start of the crossing. We quickly walked up and onto the snow - we'd been warned that it can be a diffcult trek in bad weather - but we had a fantastic day and the going was easy in the bright sunshine.
