Turangi et la traversee du Tongariro - Turangi and the Tongariro crossing

Apres l'excitation de Wellingotn on est alles se fourruer dans le trou du cul de la NZ: Turangi. Il n'y a rien a faire la a part une randonnee de quelques heures dans les montagnes et les volcans. Un paysage lunaire et volcanique incroyable et une randonnee excellente quoique mouillee et tres tres froide! Mais apres 6 heures de marche dans les montagnes et 19 kilometres plus tard, la sensation d'avoir releve un defi a soi-meme est super! Les photos parlent d'elles-meme.

After the excitment of Wellington, we decided to go butch and do the Tongariro Crossing next to Turangi (a place lost in the middle of nowhere). It's a 19 km walk in the mountains and volcanoes and the landscape is astounding. Sometimes lunar, sometimes... volcanic, it was fantastic. And a great sense of achievement after 6 hours of walking in the cold and the rain!
