My last day in Auckland was spent visiting Waiheke island, doing a little walk before sampling some of the local fine wines. What a lovely way to spend the day. On Thursday I joined the stray bus south from Auckland & went to Hahei & visited Cathedral cove, a beautiful beach before having a BBQ with my fellow stray mates. On Friday we went to Raglan & saw Bridal veil falls & the surf breaking on the beach before heading to Waitomo caves yesterday where I went caving. This involved 3 abseils, the last 2 over waterfalls & crawling through small spaces & a bit of rock climbing. Great fun.
We stayed the night in Maketu, where we had a traditional meal & the boys put on a superb performance of the Haka &the girls tried a traditional dance, which was much harder than it looked. Today we went to see Geothermal activity before I decided to jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet. What a fantastic experience & the view of Lake Taupo was amazing. I loved it & I never expected to sky dive when I came to New Zealand.
